How does Forest Schools impact the children?

Forest Schools at Star Academy

“Forest School has impact upon achievement like no other intervention I have ever witnessed. Watching the way in which Mrs Paylor passionately delivers curriculum objectives in the outdoors is inspirational.”Forest Schools was used to inspire a group of underachieving boys to make rapid progress thus achievement age-related expectations in their maths KS1 SATS.”

“In a world that is becoming increasingly reliant on technology, where children are becoming experts at swipe and tap I cannot tell you the impact Charlotte has had in my school. Her style of Forest School has reinvigorated our children’s love for the outdoors, to explore the unknown and dare to look underneath the unturned rock. This impacts directly on the children’s academic and social education, they become braver, dare to take risks, aren’t scared to fail and try again. The fires they light not only create sparks for them to wonder over but also to ignite their imaginations in ways that they may never have before, without the unique, challenging and fun experience that Woodland Warriors gives them.”

We offer all schools and nurseries forest school sessions on the safety of their own grounds and we allow the children to take supervised risks, such as, den building, tool work, fire safety. As the weeks progress you can visibly see the difference in a child’s confidence and knowledge, watching them grow as an individual displaying individual liberty.

We feel it is vital to get children outdoors and into the fresh air, as this promotes their health and well-being and everyday physical fitness. We allow children to fully express their thoughts and feelings when outdoors and love to observe them expand their communication and language skills through appropriate questioning and team building activities.

Want to know more?

How can we expect children to have respect and love for our wonderful world and their own environments if they are not shown its value and ability? Therefore each one of our sessions allows the children to connect with nature at their own pace, becoming more knowledgeable about their environment and learning lifelong skills to help prepare them for their future.

Our forest school sessions start from just £60 for a two hour session. If you would like to know more about pricing and what kind of activities/ lessons we do at Woodland Warriors please get in touch. We are happy to discuss your requirements and discuss how our sessions can be integrated into your School or Nursery.

“Learning is their journey. Let them navigate. Push them to explore. Watch them discover. Encourage their questions. Allow them to struggle. Support their thinking. Let them fly!”

A testimonial from Head Start Day Nursery in Smallthorne

“Charlotte from Woodland Warriors came to Nursery for the morning and what a wonderful time we all had.

She came prior to the session to risk assess the environment, ask what we wanted from the morning and came up with some wonderful and exciting ideas, showing her knowledge and expertise in all areas of the EYFS and adapting from the ages of 6 months to 4 years.

Charlotte further extended the children’s knowledge of their favourite story ‘The Gruffalo’ and continued with this theme throughout. They had such a fantastic time, never stopped talking about the den that they made for him and the mud pies that they made for him to eat. When outside in the woods, they go straight to the den and you can hear them reliving the morning with Charlotte. Parents still mention that the children still talk about their morning with Charlotte, making a den for the Gruffalo. It was fantastic and we will definitely be having her back.”
